Sermon 14 June 2009
"Love With the Love of the LORD"
Sunday Morning
Richard Hildreth
This Sunday Pastor Hildreth spoke about living in love.
The text was from I Corinthians 11:17-22;
Some key points from the sermon
- Show respect. Be concerned how you represent yourself. Be concerned with how you treat each other.
- One thing we have in common, we are all sinners. Christians are saved by grace.
- God forgave us all of our sins, he did not hold back. We must reflect Christ's love in this.
- God wants to use you to draw people closer to God.
- Grow closer to God
1) Prayer
2) Praise/Worship
3) Do his will
4) Listen when he speaks to you even to correct you.
- When we hear rebuke or correction let your first reaction to examine yourself and correct yourself prior to acting pridefully.
- We should not be prideful or arrogant. Each of us came in burdened by the disease of Sin, and only Jesus has the cure.
- Just because you're in a crowd does not mean you do not feel alone.
- We must be careful about what we do around other people. Do not let something you do be a stumbling block for someone else. Even if it is OK for you, it may harm another, so be aware; and act in love.
- If you have a problem with someone in the church, pray for them, try to get to know them, try to become someone who will have input in their lives.
- People should be able to see God by your actions and your deeds.
- If not, shall I praise you for this? certainly not.
