"What Is My Purpose?"
Sunday Morning
Richard Hildreth
This Sunday Pastor Hildreth spoke on the theme "Glorify, Love, Serve".
The text was from Ecclesiastes 3:1; Matthew 22:36-40; John 13; Matthew 5:16; Romans 12; Romans 15; Pslams 86:9-12; Matthew 25:34-40; Psalm 22:3
Some key points from the sermon
- We must make sure that we are not content to let the Fruit of the Spirit to sustain us for a season. Just like in the natural, a plant should produce fruit, which contains seeds that produce more plants, that produce more fruit and on in a cycle, so should our efforts go to producing more in a cycle.
- Our main purpose in life is to Glorify, Love and Serve God.
- When man was created, we lived in the Glory of God. We were his glorious creation. The glory was tainted since fall of man. We forefited the glory for a lie. Now we must live in the Glory of what Christ did for us.
- In order to Glorify God, we must Love everyone. Often we put limitations on our love, but we must love with the love of Christ, and be willing to serve.
- We must train by example the younger generation to be servants with a purpose.
- Discipline is an element of Glory, Love, and service that we must all be willing to demonstrate.
- We have a responsibility to reflect what God has shown to us.
- Lifestyles can collide in a church setting. We must be willing to yield our desires for the benefit of the body. We must be willing to let go of our strongholds and habits, as well as our personal opinions and soap-boxes.
- For any action we do we must examine "Does this give glory to God?"
- We get the greatest fulfillment from serving others.
- Christianity starts with God's love toward us, and continues with our love towards others.
- Christianity has made it possible for us to get rid of our sins, and have faith in the unseen.
- Sacrifice is easy in love.
- Without Christ, there is no hope, only hell.
- Christ demonstrated that our lives must be in relationship to God, not in dead religion. We Glorify God by reflecting him
- Christianity is not about you, it is about him. Whatever we do, or think must be done to Glorify God.
- We reflect God when we give mercy, even when it is not warranted
- We must spend more time reflecting on what God has already done for us, not what we want him to do for us, because God inhabits the praises of his people
