The text was from Joshua 4:1-7; Hebrews 11:6; Romans 12:11; James 5:16; John 15:8; Proverbs 20:6; I Corinthians 15:58; Philippians 1:21; I Corinthians 13:13; John 10:10; John 8:36; II Corinthians 5:8
Some key points from the sermon
- Pastor spoke on the history of Memorial Day in the United States, it is not just the beginning of summer.
- It is important to remember to remember
- Today we place names on buildings and bridges to remember. God placed a rainbow in the sky in Genesis, and there are over 100 examples of memorials in the Bible.
- It is not the size or price of the memorial that matters, rather the significance of the deed.
- We must have a personal memorial.
- What will people remember about you? Will they remember your Faith? Will they remember your work for the LORD?
- It is important to share the gift of faith.
- people remember more what they see that what they hear. As John Wesley said "I'd rather see a good sermon than hear one" thus we must have our actions and deeds back up our beliefs.
- We must remember to be fervent and zealous; to have a zeal to proclaim the truth.
- We must bear fruit; both the Fruit of the Spirit, and also leading our family and friends to Christ.
- Sinners are not easy to love. Remember those who led you to Christ.
- There is nothing more important than our relationship to Christ
- The Spirit of the Lord must be the one that gets the glory.
- We must give our children principles to stand on.
- We must show and demonstrate freedom to those around us.
- We can not just sit tight until Jesus comes.
- The Joy of the Lord is my strength.
- What will your personal memorial bring to remembrance?
- If you have not made that decision for Christ, now is the time to start that relationship
