Sermon 12 April 2009

"Resurrection Sunday!"

Sunday Morning

Richard Hildreth

This Easter Sunday Pastor Hildreth spoke on the resurrection.

The text was from Matthew 27:57-66

Some key points from the sermon

  1. Joseph of Arimathea wrapped Jesus in a clean cloth, just as God is there to purify us in his love when we are broken.
  2. We fight God, but when one is dead there is no fight left.
  3. In order for the resurrection to happen there needed to be death, and for a miracle in our lives we must die to flesh.
  4. God cares for your loved ones more than you ever could.
  5. When your loved one is on a path to destruction, pray and have faith.  There are times we don't know why, but we know God.
  6. There are people who will try their very best to keep someone "dead", but it is in the tomb where resurrection happens
  7. There are "Pharisees" who are trying to put the Christian Church in a tomb and seal it.
  8. We must pray for our country.
  9. We must not look at circumstances, but look to God.  When we look at circumstances we die, but when we look to God, He intervenes on our behalf.
  10. The gift of God is salvation.  Make today your resurrection day!
