"Communion Sunday"

Sunday Morning

Richard Hildreth

This week Pastor Hildreth preached concerning communion

The text was from Isiah 53

Some key points from the sermon

  1. We have nothing to boast about in ourselves, only what Christ has done for us.
  2. There is a cost for being a disciple of Christ
  3. We are to Glorify God
  4. The Spirit of God drives people to Christ, not appearances.
  5. There are times when you need to bear a burden for someone else.
  6. Christ came to save
  7. Jesus was willing to suffer for you, how fare are you willing to go for you your brothers and sisters; and for the sinners in this world?
  8. We must stand firm in faith no matter the cost
  9. God is bigger than your situation.
  10. Trust in God makes the difference
  11. God is faithful all the time.
  12. We need to examine ourselves and tell God how appreciative we are

Sunday Evening

"Take Nothing For Your Journey"

Richard Hildreth

This evening Pastor Hildreth kept on the Missions theme to some degree while speaking on miracles.

The text was from Luke 9:1-6

Some Key points from the sermon:

  1. This type of mission can still happen in modern times.  Our own Etta Hampton was sent with just 2 other people when she was ministering in the Philippines
  2. God will provide.
  3. We must try to avoid judgemental ideas like "There must be sin in your life because you did not get your miracle." and "You didn't have enough faith"
  4. Faith is saying "I can't but God can!"
  5. We must be willing to operate without "safety nets"
  6. Even Judas Iscariot was sent out with Power and Authority.
  7. Healing comes when we put everything aside and trust God.
  8. Christ paid the price for our failures.
  9. We can receive healing because Christ loves us.
  10. God is not impressed with titles.
  11. We must come to God like a baby.
  12. The minister does not heal you.  A man's prayer does not heal you.  God heals you because he loves you.
